Afin de célébrer le 5ème anniversaire de la sortie de l’album « Swimming » du défunt rappeur, la marque américaine vient d’éditer une paire en collaboration avec les ayants droit de Mac Miller.
« Swimming », sorti très exactement le 3 août 2018, est le dernier album de Mac Miller. Il est notamment arrivé à la troisième place du Billboard 200 et a donné droit à l’artiste à une nomination posthume aux Grammys 2018 pour le meilleur album rap.
En hommage, Vans a sorti une version minimaliste de sa low-top Authentic (une sneaker arborée constamment par le rappeur, ndr) qu’il portait notamment lors de sa performance mémorable à Coachella 2017. Cette Vans a été créée en collaboration avec les ayants droit du défunt rappeur, afin de sélectionner respectueusement les motifs appropriés pouvant correspondre au style atypique de l’artiste.
On retrouve ainsi sur cette Mac Miller x Vans Authentic « Swimming », la traditionnelle tige en toile noire de Vans, ornée du symbole yin et yang entouré du texte « Swimming by Mac Miller » sur l’avant de la paire, et le texte « MAC MILLER 1992 TIL » sur l’ensemble de la semelle intermédiaire, rendant ainsi hommage à son année de naissance et son influence musicale éternelle. Petit détail intéressant, la paire est présentée dans un boîte spéciale au coloris dégradé rose-violet.
Important, un pourcentage des recettes générées par la vente de cette collaboration sera reversée au Mac Miller Fund, une initiative qui fournit des ressources aux jeunes musiciens.
Un hommage sobre et élégant, célébrant le talent de cet artiste parti trop tôt.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the release of the late rapper’s album « Swimming », the American brand has just released a pair in collaboration with Mac Miller‘s estate.
« Swimming », released on 3 August 2018, was Mac Miller‘s last album. It notably reached number three on the Billboard 200 and earned the artist a posthumous nomination at the 2018 Grammys for Best Rap Album.
As a tribute, Vans has released a minimalist version of its Authentic low-top (a sneaker worn constantly by the rapper, editor’s note) that he notably wore during his memorable performance at Coachella 2017. This Vans was created in collaboration with the late rapper’s heirs, in order to respectfully select the appropriate motifs to match the rapper’s atypical style.
The Mac Miller x Vans Authentic « Swimming » features Vans’ traditional black canvas upper, adorned with the yin and yang symbol surrounded by the text « Swimming by Mac Miller » on the front of the pair, and the text « MAC MILLER 1992 TIL » across the midsole, paying homage to the year of his birth and his eternal musical influence. Interestingly, the pair is presented in a special pink-purple box.
Importantly, a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this collaboration will be donated to the Mac Miller Fund, an initiative that provides resources for young musicians.
A sober and elegant tribute, celebrating the talent of an artist who left too soon.
